airWG is an international artist residency program organized by artists from the atelierWG community. 

Since 1989, atelierWG has been located in halls 18 and 19 on the WG grounds in Amsterdam with a total of 120 artist studios. The central exhibition space puntWG has been in use since 2006, and the artist-in-residence airWG has been established since 2015.

Our main objective is to offer space and time to our residents, for reflection, creation and dissemination of their practices in the context provided by the city of Amsterdam, and integrate them, as much as possible, into the cultural fabric of the city and our community.

The program is open to visual artists, mixed media,  performance artists, designers, researchers, curators and writers for a period of three months.

We offer participants a private studio/living space of 70 m2 located on the ground floor of Pavilion 18.

At the end of the residency period, the guest artist is invited to present the result of his/her stay at the residency in the puntWG, an interdisciplinary project space located in the same building. 

Residency information

Offered by airWG:

• A studio, living room, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom & washing machine (please note this is a no smoking space).
• A Greet and Meet gathering.
• Opportunity to host an exhibition/event in our project space puntWG.
• Invitations and other marketing for your exhibition/presentation.
• Introduction to the Amsterdam art scene.
• 24/7 access to the studio

Paid by the Resident:

•  Rent €800 per month for the studio, living room, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom & washing machine (please note this is a non-smoking space). This includes all utilities (incl. electricity, heating, water, & Wi-Fi). 
• €400 as a deposit should be paid in advance one month before starting the residency.
• Travel expenses.
• Living expenses.
• Most material costs.
• Visa and health insurance, other insurances.

Note: The resident artist is responsible for the proper use of airWG's physical space and furniture, as well as the rational use of electricity, water and heating services. The lack of responsibility for the use of the services can lead to extra rates for the resident.

The results of the residency should be documented in some ways: be available in digital form to be included on the airWG website and our blog.
