Lindsay Carone

The artist Lindsay Carone, from USA, is selected for the period September 1st to the end of November 2016 at AirWG. The work she plans to make while in residence will draw from her research on craft processes, aesthetics, and traditions of hand-making.

Biography

Lindsay Carone is an artist working primarily in sculpture, installation, and textiles. After spending the past year living in the Kutch region of Gujarat, India studying traditional craft processes through a Fulbright Grant, she will be spending her time in residence making new work based on this research. Lindsay earned an MFA in Sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her work has been shown in the Katonah Museum of Art, the Phillips Museum of Art, Saint Joseph’s University, and in the RISD Museum of Art, where she created a site-specific installation as a winner of their annual Sitings competition. Lindsay has held residencies with The Cultural Center at Eagle Hill in Hardwick, MA, The Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah, the Platte Clove Residency in the Catskill Mountains in New York, and Millersville University’s Emerging Artist in Residence program in Central Pennsylvania. Additionally, she completed an Apprenticeship at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia.
